I was asked to take a go at Sponge Bob Square Pants. I believe he turned out really well. I was not sure how to do the holes in his body so I decided to just em-border them in. I did use this Spongebob pattern but I modified a few things as well as added. I always attempt to crochet all the parts. I am proud of Spongebob!
I just love making someones day, so I found a pattern and started crocheting away. I did make a few changes on the pattern. I wanted it to look especially well as everyone at work was going to see my craft. I think he turned out pretty well. I do know that everyone loved it at work.
Then I heard of plarn from one of the yahoo groups I belong too. It is yarn you make from plastic shopping bags. It is a bit different to work with. If you are interested in learning how to make plarn here is a good link myrecycledbags. I believe there are some youtube videos as well. Then I was thinking about what to make two of my tween nieces for Christmas. I decided to make plarn bags. It seems they are a bit popular as my sister-in-law was jealous she didn't get one. Ha! While I was surfing for more patterns I discovered an amazing technique on YouTube. Spinning plarn making it more yarn-like. Sounds like a new project. Yay!
I had bought Afghan Splender. A very fine book. I have made five afghans from this book. I am trying to get pictures of them. The five I made where Redwork Hearts using blues and omitting the buttons as my son was young when I made it. Didn't want him to choke. Rippling Reflections I made for my oldest and middle son. My middle sons was nearly seven foot long as he is 6'2". Victorian Blues I made for my father. Tawny Ripples I made my mother. Indian Harvest is what I made my daughter-in-law. I love making afghans, but the best part is seeing the joy in the face of the person I give it too. It is a great way to always be remembered, even after you are long gone.
Especially the afghans. One year for Christmas I made five afghans. Made one for each of my three children as well as one for mom and one for dad. They where pieces of art. It sure is a great way to be able to live for many many years after your gone. I have a few things my grandmothers made. I cherish them like they are made of gold. Any day now I hope to have pictures of the set I made for the grand daughter who is due to be here any day now. I know my daughter-in-law is ready as she feels as though her skin could stretch no more. I am so anxious!Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11497207599594398539noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4462733320560673710.post-7130599232226524632010-11-05T18:05:00.000-07:002010-11-05T18:05:19.156-07:00Life Is Like A Box of Chocolates

I had no problems with this at all. They turned out amazing. I do have a passion for putting them together. I did make some personal touches as I like everything to be crocheted. Therefore I embroidered his eyes, his hat logo, and crocheted some buttons. My nephew is crazy about them. The pictures really don't either of them justice. I am going to try to get some better pictures taken.
Not bad...I tried my skills at a doll that clothes could be made for it. My grand daughter just loves changes the clothes on dolls. She is now three. I thought this would be a great size for her to carry around in a plarn tote. :) I love being crafty! This is a pattern I found free. http://web.me.com/michael2k/KISS/The_Home_Hub/Entries/2009/3/2_Kiki_and_Her_First_Outfit.html
I thought it would be excellent to have a washable bath puff. It was easier than I thought. I whipped one up in an hour or so. Might make a good Christmas gift. What do you think?
I accomplished a tote made from plarn. I found out that it takes some muscle to get through a large project with plarn. It makes an interesting pattern. I also found out that it takes a LOT of plastic bags for one project. It is a great way to recycle your shopping bags. It uses them up fast.

I think it is usable. It is thick and very durable. I was surprised how strong of a bag it makes. I bought this pattern, Chinese Dragon LE-37G Designed by Rungrat Puthikul. A four page patten, I am addicted. This took me about six months to do. If you look really close I have one stitch that is backwards. Ha! This was the most challenging. I will confess, I had to rip out a lot. Once it was together I thought it turned out well. The backwards stitch drives me insane! My husband tells me you cannot see it. I am a perfectionist. The backsides of my cross stitches are just as neat as the front, that lets it lay flat if you are going to frame them.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11497207599594398539noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4462733320560673710.post-77320981258782770852010-08-03T10:09:00.000-07:002010-08-03T10:09:18.958-07:00Counted Cross Stitch Geisha

I cannot remember where I got this pattern. All I do remember is that it was from a foreign website. This isn't even the whole pattern. It is written in a foreign writing therefore I could not make sense out of what size canvas I needed. I could read the symbols and the DMC and Anchor numbers are in English. A wonderful four page pattern. I adore doing the difficult numerous paged patterns. I like to count, maybe that is why I love them so much. I also enjoy the challenge. I think she turned out beautiful! I would like to do it again on the correct sized canvas. It is suppose to be longer than wide.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11497207599594398539noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4462733320560673710.post-62979271109032812222010-08-02T12:48:00.000-07:002010-08-03T09:53:58.818-07:00A Boy's Gift Set

It is always nice to have a gift set on hand just in case you get a Baby Shower invitation and no time to whip something up.
